Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course- RENEWAL

This PALS course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to recognize and treat critically ill infants and children in emergency situations. Through a scenario-based, team approach, this course emphasizes pediatric emergency management, covering both initial response and extended care for stabilization or transport. Participants will be prepared to handle respiratory or cardiac arrest situations, both in and out of hospital settings.

Intended Audience:
This course is ideal for healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies, as well as for those seeking first-time or renewal PALS credentials.

Topics Covered:

  • Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest
  • Systematic approach to pediatric assessment
  • Effective respiratory management
  • 1- and 2-person CPR and AED skills validation for infants and children
  • Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
  • Intraosseous access and fluid administration
  • Team dynamics in resuscitation

Pre-Class Preparation:

  1. Review the 2020 AHA PALS Provider Manual.
  2. Complete Precourse Test and Precourse Work.
  3. Familiarize yourself with Cardiac Rhythms:
    • Ventricular Fibrillation
    • Ventricular Tachycardia
    • Pulseless Electrical Activity (PEA)
    • Asystole
    • Bradycardia
    • Sinus Tachycardia
    • Supraventricular Tachycardia
  4. Review Pediatric Algorithms.
  5. Review Pediatric Pharmacology.

Certification Requirement:

  • Currently BLS card. 
  • YOU MUST PROVIDE A CURRENT COPY OF YOUR ACLS CARD. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CURRENT COPY YOU WILL BE MOVED TO THE INITIAL COURSE AND CHARGED THE DIFFERENCE. Can’t locate your card? Look it up here.
  • Physical copy of the Completion Certificate issued after you have completed the online Precourse Assessment, watched videos and COMPLETED SURVEY.

Upon completion, students will receive an AHA ACLS Course Completion eCard, valid for two years. The eCard will be issued to the email you register with. This email should be a personal email and not a school or work email.
