Heartsaver CPR AED Course Overview

The Heartsaver CPR AED course equips participants with the skills to perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely, effectively, and promptly. This training aligns with the latest science and education updates from the American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who Should Take This Course?

The AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Course is ideal for individuals with limited or no medical training who need a course completion card for CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

  • Working with others to provide CPR effectively
  • Delivering breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups

  • Recognizing and assisting choking adults and children
  • Assisting choking infants*

This course is designed to provide hands-on practice and real-world scenarios to ensure participants feel confident and prepared to respond in an emergency.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. The Heartsaver First Aid course trains participants first aid basics for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and the 2015 AHA/Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid.
